Come and join us as we explore composition in photography.

Composition is one of the most critical element in photography. Composition is how a photographer arranges the visual elements within their image, frame. I promise you that if you search for information on composition you will find plenty You will find formal rules, opinion, some of which you can trace back to historical art movements and painters.

Even in the digital world, composition remains the key to creating strong images. Composition is what guides our eye through an image and gives importance to the subject. It creates the story for the viewer and how we as photographers convey that message.

This meetup will explore composition using our frame and tools available to us as the photographer.

Great portrait photography session run by Sanro this weekend. He was very knowledgeable (including technical aspects e.g. light spectrums behind settings) and gave each of us individualised constructive feedback. I felt I really improved over the session and I have lots to get on a practice with. Sanro was so enthusiastic that the session went on longer than it should! It was great value for money - thank you so much Sanro!

One of my friends said to me when taking photographs don't choose the obvious. Don't opt for what is directly in front of you. Look back. Look to the side. Look up! Hence the different perspective. The image is also full of my favourites go to's, line, reflection and contrast. I was very fortunate that the weather was overcast that day. Otherwise some of the elements might have been lost in the bright sunshine.

I enjoy macro photography highlighting parts of everyday object wee usually overlook. In this picture, I noted the opening of the white rose petals to reveal the reds and oranges of the stamens and pistil against a golden glow formed from the light diffusing through the scene, like the opening of a painted paper fan.
